Saadani National Park Day Trip
Saadani is where the beach meets the bush. The only wildlife sanctuary in East Africa to boast for an Indian Ocean beachfront, it sounds too far fetched to be true – an epic safari adventure filled with scenic Savannah, verdant bush lands married with calm beaches absent from tourists. This description may sound like the stuff of dreams, but here in Tanzania’s Saadani National Park, it is the reality. Yet it is also the one place where those idle hours of sunbathing might be interrupted by an elephant strolling past, or a lion coming to drink at the nearby waterhole!
Dar es Salaam to Saadani National Park
Our guide will meet & greet your group at 4:00 hrs. Give short briefing of the day’s activities and shortly after your will depart to Saadani National Park. On arrival, our guide will be looking out for land animals like elephant, lion, giraffe, buffalo, zebra, waterbuck and sable antelope and birds like the African hornbill. There’s a good chance of spotting hippo, crocodile and a selection of marine and river birds, including the mangrove kingfisher and lesser flamingo, on stretches of the Wami River, and although they’re usually only spotted at dawn or dusk, the beaches here are one of the last major green turtle breeding sites on mainland Tanzania.
At midday you will enjoy a picnic lunch on the beach with its white sand and sparkling clear water. After lunch you will continue with the game drive and then a boat safari to experience the river Wami which is full of hippos, crocodiles and water birds. In the late afternoon or early evening you will start the drive back to Dar es Salaam where we will drop you back at your hotel.
