Safari Packing list

Tanzania Safari Packing list

When it comes to your clothing during safari, we recommend you to bring clothes that are easy to wash and dry quickly. While laundry services are usually available at more luxurious accommodations, driers aren’t super common at tented camps and sometimes your clothes will come back slightly damp, depending on how much time you have before moving on to your next camp. Casual clothes are best. Preferably in khaki or neutral colors. Camouflage is totally forbidden and bright colors often distract the animals. And again, bringing clothes to layer is key.

Finally, binoculars are very helpful to have. In most parks, driving “off road” is forbidden and having a decent pair of binoculars really helps if an animal or bird is in a tree far off the road.

Clothes:

  • 1 -4 long-sleeved shirts;
  • warm sweater or light jacket (the temperature in the Ngorongoro falls to 0 degrees Celsius in the evening and in the morning);
  • Regular, light shirts or T-shirts (preferably 1 pc for every day of safari);
  • 1-4 pairs of light (cotton) trousers;
  • Shorts or a loose skirt, for the ladies;
  • swimsuit / trunks (most lodges offer a swimming pool);
  • A hat, for the sun (visor or other cap is also acceptable).
  • comfortable, and sturdy walking shoes.

Here are the items we recommend you bring:

  • Sunglasses;
  • Bandana or handkerchief in case of dust;
  • Adapter for electric plugs (Tanzania uses three-pronged plugs, similar to England);
  • Photocopies of your passport and other necessary travel documents;
  • Camera and all photo equipment;
  • Hand sanitizer or disinfectant;
  • Personal hygiene items (including sunscreen and insect repellant)
